Composites Design Engineer (Space Launch New Zealand)

Design and develop composite airframe structures for a reusable spaceplane. Work within the vehicle engineering team to take designs from concept through manufacture, test and flight.

What you'll do

  • Design primary and secondary composite airframe structures
  • Develop laminate schedules, drawings, tooling and assembly fixtures
  • Perform structural sizing, trade studies and design optimisation
  • Work with manufacturing, test and flight teams to ensure manufacturability
  • Support structural testing, qualification and flight campaigns

  • Degree in aerospace, mechanical, physics or related field
  • At least 3 years designing composite structures in high-performance environments
  • Strong understanding of composite materials and laminate theory
  • Experience with CAD such as CATIA, Siemens NX or SolidWorks
